What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM that connects some newer devices to STRATA’s wireless network. Some physical SIMs are now being replaced by embedded SIMs — or eSIM for short. They’re blank SIMs pre-built into your device that download plans instantly, so unlike physical SIM cards, they never need to be swapped out of your phone or replaced — they update automatically.

Why use an eSIM?

An eSIM gives you more flexibility to manage your wireless plan and eSIM-compatible device. Besides being able to activate new phone lines in a fraction of the time, some eSIM-capable devices allow you to use two eSIMs at the same time (or one physical SIM card and one eSIM). A dual SIM also allows customers who use the same device for business and personal calls to maintain separate phone numbers on one device.

How do I use an eSIM?

When you purchase an eSIM capable device, your eSIM will be downloaded to your device over Wi-Fi. Your service will be the same as if you were using a physical SIM card.

How do I activate a STRATA eSIM card?

STRATA supports eSIM Carrier Activation and will assign an eSIM to your device digitally either at time of purchase. All eSIM codes are generated in-store.

How do I transfer my phone number to my new device?

Please come to your nearest STRATA Networks location and speak with a customer service representative to start the eSIM transfer process.

How do I activate an iPhone with eSIM if I don't have access to a Wi-Fi network?

If you have an eSIM only iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro model and you don’t have a Wi-Fi network, Apple has a new solution to activate your eSIM. During the Set Up process, you can choose to continue without Wi-Fi. This allows you to setup your new eSIM without Wi-Fi —at no cost to you.

Are all STRATA customers able to use an eSIM on a device?

Yes. All STRATA customers can use an eSIM on any eSIM supported device.

How do I get a STRATA eSIM if I'm not purchasing my device from STRATA?

Please come to your nearest STRATA Networks location and speak with a customer service representative to evaluate your device and start the eSIM process.

How do I know if my iPhone is unlocked?

  1. Go to Settings > General, and tap About.
  2. Under Carrier Lock, you should see a message that says “No SIM restrictions.”

If you don’t see that message, contact STRATA Networks at 435-622-5007 or come to your nearest STRATA location and speak with a customer service representative.

Will activating an eSIM lock my device to STRATA?

Your device’s lock status is not impacted by the use of an eSIM. STRATA does not lock devices.

What should I do if my device is lost or stolen with an active eSIM?

If your device with an active eSIM is lost or stolen, please contact customer support at 435-622-5007 as soon as possible. They will deactivate your eSIM remotely.

What is Dual SIM?

Dual SIM allows users to use two phone numbers at the same time. For example, you can use one number for business and another number for personal. Or you can add a local data plan when you travel outside of the country or region.

What happens to my cellular plan if I erase my eSIM?

If you delete your eSIM, your cellular plan has not been canceled. Please call customer support at 435-622-5007 to be issued a new QR code through your verified email or visit your nearest STRATA location.
