Strata Networks is excited to announce the successful completion of mainline construction on the Providence City Fiber Network. This achievement represents a significant milestone as it marks becoming one step closer to every home and business in Providence having access to some of the fastest speeds in the country.
Service is already available to over 2,500 locations, and once the project is complete, Providence City will become the first city in Cache Valley to offer city-wide fiber internet while also becoming the first fully realized public-private partnership network associated with Strata.
“The successful completion of mainline construction is a significant achievement,” said Strata Networks CEO/General Manager Bruce Todd. “It is a testament to the collective efforts of Strata Networks and Providence City and our shared vision to create a digitally inclusive and thriving community. We’re thrilled to be one step closer to realizing that vision.”
The completion of mainline construction, which involved dedicated efforts from several teams placing over 250,000 feet of conduit in city rights of way, signifies a crucial step in the fiber overbuild, as the mainline fiber ultimately connects residents to the network’s backbone. While this phase has concluded, crews will continue to place fiber in conduit and complete installations in the final zone and throughout other areas as sign-ups continue.
“Our goal of making high-speed fiber internet available to every Providence citizen is close to becoming a reality,” says Mayor Kathleen Alder, “We look forward to the next several months when everyone will have an opportunity to connect to this cutting-edge technology, revolutionizing how we educate, work remotely, and access entertainment. We hope everyone will connect, making Providence the most progressive city in Cache Valley. We appreciate the collaboration with Strata, which has made this dream a reality.”
The Providence City Fiber Network is an open access network wherein the city maintains ownership of the network, and Strata acts as the consultative partner to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of the asset. It is anticipated that the project will be fully completed in April 2024. Residents and businesses interested in service can visit providence.stratafi.net for more information on how to sign up for service.
